National Drive Electric Week breaks World Records

Last month the National Drive Electric Week captivated many EV enthusiasts and broke world records in the process. If you aren’t familiar with the event, the aim of the week as coined by the founder is "a nationwide celebration to heighten awareness of today's widespread availability of plug-in vehicles" The three national organisers of the event Sierra Club, Plug In America, and the Electric Auto Association, pulled off the events seamlessly. The Sierra Club director Mr Brune added "Clean energy prosperity is on the way and there's no turning back." 

The idea launched only 3 years ago, known back then as National Plug-in day. Due to the continued growth in popularity the event has expanded to a week long occasion. Simultaneous events took place all over the world this year, with a staggering 152 events taking place in 5 countries, 39 US states and 150 cities.

In California, one of the many events during the week broke a new world record, topping the previous record by a mile. The successful record breaking attempt was for the title of the most electric fueled vehicles, taking part in a parade - an impressive 507 cars and their users turned out of the day.

The events weren't just for electric car owners though, drivers interested in making the switch were greeted with welcoming arms, and experienced users were available to offer test drives and provide detailed and honest first hand experiences of choosing a greener method of transportation.

All in all, the week was a massive success, and we look forward to seeing what next year can bring.
