Green Motion open second car hire branch in Liverpool

Liverpool is a city championing the electrical vehicle revolution. Because our Liverpool John Lennon Airport branch has proved particularly popular with locals and tourists, we thought that it was right to feed the city’s appetite by opening a second car hire site in the city centre.
Low-emission car hire Liverpool
Our new Liverpool Downtown branch joined our already established John Lennon Airport site in August. Located within the Baltic Triangle on Kings Dock Street, the new branch initially has a fleet of 10 cars but is planning to increase that number in the coming months.
The Liverpool Downtown branch is operated by William Zhang. William is excited to be spearheading the opening of Green Motion’s 21st UK location.
Our airport location has proved popular for visitors flying to the city and we’re now pleased to be making our service more accessible to the residents of Liverpool with this opening. The new branch will be perfect for weekends to the coast and road trips as well as business trips.
Electric vehicle uptake in Liverpool
Uptake of electric vehicles is continuing to grow in Liverpool. In the North West region. 2,398 new plug-in and electric cars were registered in 2017, a 34.3% rise on the previous year, one of the highest growing percentages in the UK.
Liverpool City Council is pushing for even more to be done in their city, though. Earlier in 2018, it was announced that 62 brand new charging points were coming to the city and there are plans to create a Clean Air Zone in the city centre.
Liverpool mayor Joe Anderson said: “By 2025 I want the city to have developed a central heart where walking, cycling, electric vehicles and clean fuels will dominate.”
In 2018, the World Health Organisation found that Liverpool was among the most polluted cities in the UK. Aligning with the city’s plans to lower emissions, Green Motion aims to add electric vehicles to the Liverpool fleet as soon as possible.
