New Nissan Leaf launched amidst assurances that electric cars are not ‘just for green eco-warriors’

The new Nissan Leaf was launched this month, boasting a new 30kW battery that will increase the car’s range from 124 miles to 155 miles.

The Leaf is currently the UK’s best-selling pure electric vehicle, and one of Green Motion’s most popular rental options, with more and more drivers taking into consideration the economic and environmental benefits of owning a green car.

Commenting at the Frankfurt International Motor Show, Nissan marketing director Chris Marsh said: “There’s been a massive change in the marketplace and an increase in familiarisation with EV and the infrastructure around it.”

Adding to this, Nissan Motor (GB) managing director James Wright said: “The days when it was only the green eco-warriors who buy electric have gone and now the vehicle is a sensible proposition for a significant proportion of the car-buying public.”

Sales of the new Nissan Leaf 30kW will begin in the UK in December 2015.
