Green Motion Edinburgh Waverley Station

After you’ve safely landed in Edinburgh and collected your hire car from Green Motion Edinburgh Waverley Station, we know that you will be eager to get your car on the road and start exploring the United Kingdom.

If you are unfamiliar with driving in the United Kingdom, it is important to remember that you must drive on the left hand side of the road. We also recommend that you consider hiring a GPS (SatNav) to ensure that you arrive at your destination with speed and accuracy.

Our office is located within the NCP Scotpark, just minutes away from the Arrivals Terminal. Please take the complimentary yellow NCP bus from stand number 8 across the road from the Tram stop.

Enjoy your car hire in Edinburgh

If this is your first time driving a car in Edinburgh, our advice is to stay calm and take your time. As already mentioned, remember to drive on the left. We also recommend for your own peace of mind to consider hiring a GPS to ensure you can navigate around Edinburgh with ease (ask at the rental counter for details).

There are many roundabouts throughout the UK, they are actually relatively easy to manoeuvre around (once you get your head around them) and they help to keep the flow of traffic running smoothly. There are two key things to remember when approaching a roundabout: get in the correct lane for the direction you are want to drive (left, straight or right) and always give way to the driver on your right.

When travelling on the motorways or dual carriageways, the speed limit is 70 mph (112 km/h) and 60 mph (97 km/h) on single carriageways. The speed limit outside the city ranges from 40 mph (64 km/h) to 50 mph (80km/h) and 30 mph (48 km/h) in built-up areas unless started otherwise. For your own safety it is important that you obey the local traffic and speed restrictions.

Should you require any assistance while in Edinburgh, the UK emergency services can be contacted by calling 999 for police, fire fighters and medical services.
