Our staff take pride in providing an excellent car rental experience. Three areas that define experience are price, service and product and we believe that Green Motion offers all three. 

The office incorporates seating so your rental can be conducted in a calm and relaxing environment. Documentation is prepared for your rental quickly and efficiently by informative friendly staff. We walk you to your car where a representative will run through any questions you may have. 

In the 10 years that Stansted Green Motion has been operating we continue to get repeat custom and new customer acquisition. Additional accessories including excess reduction packages, satellite navigation, additional drivers and baby seats can be ordered by phone/email prior to arrival or at the rental desk locally. Where are you located?

We are based inside the Novotel Stansted Hotel. The Novotel is within the Airport Boundary and next to the M11 motorway and A120. For sat nav enter postcode CM24 1SF. Please see our location map, above.

From the Airport Terminal how do I get to you?

Go to stand 18 in the bus and coach terminal area. The Coach terminal is on the ground floor level of the airport outside. From there catch the Novotel Shuttle. The ride is around 7 mins to the Novotel hotel. 

What are the times of the Shuttle?

The shuttle bus runs every 30 mins from 4.15am till 1am every day. From the airport it is on the hour and every half hour. For example 12.00, 12.30, 13.00 etc. 

What Identifications do I need?

UK Licence holders:

  • UK licence holders will need a code from verify my licence (gov website) which now replaces the paper part which was abolished in 2015. Alternately if you bring your National Insurance number we can get the code.
  • If the UK licence does not have your correct residential address then bring a utility bill/bank statement or credit card statement proving where you now live. 
  • Passport or Employers ID cards as proof of who you are.
  • Booking partner voucher
  • Credit card

Foreign Nationals Licence Holders:

  • Driver licence, Passport, Credit Card and Voucher as above.
Do I need to leave a Deposit?

All our rentals will require a preauthorisation. This amount can vary between £200 - £2500 depending on car type and insurances taken. If you book your insurance with a third party we will still need to preauthorise your card. We offer lower card guarantees at £200 if you take our own excess reduction packages on site.

If we are unable to guarantee your card for funds we will not be able to rent a car.

What types of payment & deposit cards do you accept?

We accept credits cards for preauthorisation and must be in the driver name. Cards not accepted are Cash Cards, Maestro, some Electron & Amex UK. Cash is not accepted.

How long do you hold my deposit?

We do not hold any funds in our account. The bank block the funds in your account and depending on card type and country this can differ from 5-14 days. We do not have the ability to cancel any blocks made on your account by the banks. We can reduce your deposit amount with us by taking one of our insurance packages on site. 

How much is your excess package?

Full Cover excess package is £26 per day and higher if a premium car or 9-seater minibus and as low as £8 per day for Window and Tyre cover only. Our excess reduction products reduce your liability and provide the ability to walk away with out further payment. Stress free rentals include our excess waiver packages.

What if I am delayed picking up my car?

All broker/partner/direct reservations have a 2 hour reserve period from pick up time. If you are delayed by air or road please contact us or email

What if I arrive to pick up my car when you are closed?

Customers who arrive after our closing time will be subject to a mandatory £50 out of hours charge. If you have been delayed and have not informed us you will not be able to pick up your car until we are open again.  Our hours are 6am to 00.00 midnight every day except some public holidays.

Can I drop off my car before you open?

Out of hours drop offs are strictly not authorised unless prior arrangement on pick up of rental car and fee.
