Outlander Plug-in Hybrid outpaces Leaf to become most common green car

The Mitsubishi Outlander Plug-in Hybrid has this year become the most popular ultra-green car on the UK’s roads, pushing the Nissan Leaf from top place.

Analysis of DVLA data by the RAC Foundation has discovered that there were 9,773 Outlanders licensed by the end of Q1 in 2015. This is an impressive 85% increase on the number of the same vehicles registered in Q4 of 2014.

In comparison, there were 8,274 registered pure battery-powered Nissan Leafs – an also substantial 21% increase on Q4 of 2014.

Third place on the list of vehicles which qualify for the government’s plug-in car and van grants is the BMW i3.

Green Motion are proud to have Nissan Leaf electric vehicles available for hire in selected branches. Electric cars are solely powered by an electric motor, are subject to no congestion charges and no road tax – and have close to no effect on the environment.
